The name reflects the traditional course which takes tens of thousands of participants from the northeast end of the downtown area near The Embarcadero (the "bay" side of the city) to the west end of the city and the "breakers" of Ocean Beach. The 7.46 mile (12 kilometer) race features world-class athletes in addition to costumed runners and 'fun-loving' folks out for a great day of running and walking through San Francisco

This race has been around for over 100 years. It is a big field and it can be hard to race with all the people on the course, but it is a fun event. Unless you are seeded just don't expect to run a good time.

Got in a nice 5 mile run this morning. The weather is perfect.

The Hayes Street Hills killed my time today in the B2B. My unofficial time is 52:04. That should be my chip time, that is from when i crossed the starting line. Look at my splits: 6:27, 6:51, 8:12, 7:13, 6:57, 6:28, 6:35. I lost over one minute on the hills. But i reaaly enjoyed this race. I can run it faster...congrats to evwryone who ran...

3 1/2 Hrs push mowing the lawn
+reply by Bill Dunn Saturday, 5/19, 2012 6:36 pm
I had a lawn to mow like that once. When I was a kid we lived in New Hampshire and had 28 acres of our own . It was really cool except that about 3 acres of it was grass. What kind of muscles are sore after that? I've forgotten!
+reply by Carol Pillars Sunday, 5/20, 2012 7:20 am
I just do it for the tan, exercise and frustration relief. We really have a riding mower. People think I am nuts but I have been doing it for like 30 years. Thanks for remembering.

I love chocolate milk drink one after every hard run.
+reply by Roger Wright Saturday, 5/19, 2012 9:40 pm
Yeah, it's my favorite post workout drink. I discovered Byrne Diary (in NY) milk about a year ago. It's super pasteurized so it has a shelf life of over 60 days and it's a great reward!
+reply by Bob Anderson Sunday, 5/20, 2012 5:13 am
It is fun to have these little rewards...

Profile: Bill Dunn Saturday, 5/19, 2012 9:49 am
5.1 mile run incorporating the usual 14 x 300-400 meter fartlek intervals. After yesterdays long run the legs were not to responsive and I felt like cashing it in after the 1st 6. I did push on and they did feel alittle better towards the end. The last one is uphill and after that one I was almost doubled over. I feel much better now that I didn't give in to the discomfort early on. Stretching, weight training afterwards.
+reply by Bob Anderson Saturday, 5/19, 2012 8:24 pm
You are pushing it...be safe!

hmm, the HRM watch needed charging, and I forgot to restart my stop watch after the light changed. Guess I didn't really care how long I ran. Another flat 6 around the neighborhood.
