Kenya Double 21k Adventure Run
As ducks take to water, so the natural-born Kenyan distance runners took to the Double, Sat., Sept. 6, as the Double 21K Adventure Run was held in Thika, Kenya.
As might be expected, in the first Double of any distance ever held in Africa, the Kenyan runners set a whole new standard of performance, en masse, in the history of Double Racing®
Look at the times! And it should be noted that the courses for this two-stage race, which included dirt roads and some grassy stretches, was not easy – and it was at 5000 feet altitude!
Samuel Mwangi, 23, of Nyahururu, Kenya was the men’s winner in 1:01:56 – remember this Double (a 15K followed by a 6K after a rest break) was equivalent to the half-marathon distance.
Chebotikin Kimalel, 21, was second in 1:02:03 and Hillary Kandie, 22, third in 1:02:21.
