J.P. Slater, 24, of Berkeley, Calif., won the Surf City USA Half-Marathon in Huntington Beach, Calif., Sun., Feb. 1, in 1:06:30.
John Gilbertson, 23, of Santa Clarita, Calif., and Sean Gildea, also 23, of Mission Viejo, Calif., finished second and third as they ran 1:07:28 and 1:10:04 respectively.
The fourth-place finisher, in 1:10:23, was John Sherfey of Stevenson Ranch, Calif., who’s only 19.
Liz Camy, 31, of Simi Valley, Calif., was the women’s winner in 1:17:13.
Christine Vergara Aleshire, 33, of Las Vegas, Nev., finished second in 1:18:41, and Kate Bouvatte, 23, of Carlsbad, Calif., was third in 1:19:40.
There were 14, 378 finishers in the race.
In the Surf City USA Marathon held in Huntington Beach on the same day, Cheyne Inman, 29, of Hayward, Calif., was the men’s winner as he ran 2:35:35 to finish more than 10 minutes ahead!
Two Masters runners, James Holt, 40, of Washington, Utah, and Naoki Kato, 42, of Torrance, Calif., were second and third as they ran 2:45:46 and 2:46:43 respectively.
Devon Yanko, 32, of San Anselmo, Calif., was the women’s winner in 2:48:21, with Nicole Wilson, 27, of Baltimore, Md., finishing second in 2:54:34 and Meredith Zohar, 42, of North Hollywood, Calif., third in 2:59:13.
There were 2,070 finishers in the marathon.
