Best Road Races
After a five-year drought, a Kenyan is back on top of the Utica Boilermaker.
Julius Keter of Kenya won the 15-kilometer race on Sunday with a time of 43 minutes, 55 seconds.
From 1992 to 2007, Kenyans won 15 of the 16 Boilermakers. However, the Kenyans had been shut out of the top spot for the past five years.
Finishing second was another Kenyan, Wilson Kiprotich in 43:58. First American was Tyler McCandless who finished 6th overall. Tyler had set the world record for the Double Road Race June 30th in Overland Park, Kansas. His time was 45:16, just one second slower than at the Double.
On the women's side, Kenya's Lineth Chepkurui finished first in 50:33.
There were a total of 11,370 finishers for the race.

Tyler McCandless (19) is red hot. He was the first American (6th overall) at the Boilermaker 15k in Utica, New York over the weekend. Between all these great races Tyler has been putting together the Denver Double Road Race coming up this weekend I (July 21).
